The department of computer science and engineering of ABIT was formed in the year 1998. It offers B. Tech. and M. Tech. degrees with contemporary research, high quality teaching and project oriented works. This branch of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture. Work area for computer engineers may include any of the following : Design, Develop, Maintain and Support softwares in areas of Applications, embedded systems, VLSI chips, Analog sensors, Mixed signal circuit boards, and operating systems. Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research, which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors.

ABIT's Computer Science department has taken steps to strengthen links with industry to widen professional and technical skills. The department spearheads association with Microsoft, Oracle and IBM education to ensure availability of software infrastructure necessary for students. In addition, designated faculty members guide students through industry oriented software contests by IT giants IBM and Infosys.
